Let’s take a look at the best television shows of the year made by Latinos.

We are currently living in what many consider to be a “golden age” for television. Many of the great series we find on the small screen offer stories that are just as compelling (or even more) than the ones we find at the movie theaters.

Streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu have become excellent platforms for creators to showcase their talent without the limitations of traditional networks, and Latinos have definitely benefited from this.

Below we give you a list with the best of Latino television of the year.

1. Club de Cuervos

This is a show that revolves around a soccer team in the fictional city of Nuevo Toledo, Mexico, but you don’t have to be a fan of the sport to enjoy this show.

The show stars Luis Gerardo Méndez, better known for his role in the popular Mexican film “Nosotros los Nobles” (The Noble Family).

2. Ingobernable

On this Netflix original series popular Mexican actress Kate del Castillo plays the First Lady of Mexico, Emilia Urquiza.

After engaging in an argument with her husband that results in his death, Emilia is forced to go on the run until she can prove her innocence.

3. 3%

This show was the first Portuguese-language Netflix original series.

The story is set on a dystopian future society where the wealthy and affluent live in the Offshore while the poor live in the devastated Inland.

People are given a chance to go to the “better side” through a series of challenges but only 3% of the candidates make it.

4. El Marginal

This Argentinean series tells the story of Miguel, a former cop, who is sent to prison in order to find his daughter’s kidnapper.

To survive in prison, Miguel needs to find a way to gain the approval of the other recluses.

5. Run Coyote Run

This show tackles the very serious topic of illegal human trafficking across the US border but from a comedic perspective.

The story follows the misadventures of two friends who decide to form an organization that illegally smuggles people into the United States.
